Meet Mae
Welcome! I’m Mae, a Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO. I offer in-person services in Ottawa and virtual services across Ontario to teens (16+), adults, and couples. I primarily work with issues related to abandonment, anxiety, depression, LGBT+ issues, life transitions, rejection, stress management, and trauma.
As your therapist, I want you to know that all parts of you are welcome here. This is your invitation to come as you are. There is no part of you that doesn't belong — even the parts you haven’t spoken to in a while.
My passion for therapy is rooted in my own experiences with adversity and loss. I believe we must accept that hardships, much like happiness and enjoyment, are a part of life, and instead of dwelling on what we can't change, we must shift our focus to what we can change. This does not mean that we should not feel for our past selves — the parts of us who have endured difficulties and may still be in pain; on the contrary, it means that we are applying what we have learned so we can move forward.
For some, choosing to reach out is easy; for others, there is a weight to asking for help. Believe it or not, by being here, you’ve already taken the first step. I welcome you to take the next by contacting me for a consultation.
I understand that therapy may not be easily accessible for everyone. For that reason, I offer sliding scale pricing. Please contact me for more information about this process.
I currently have a waitlist for new clients.

Meet Shanelle
Welcome! I'm Shanelle, a Registered Psychotherapist licensed in Ontario. My path to becoming a therapist was born out of a genuine desire to show up for others the way I once needed someone to show up for me. I know firsthand how hard life can get, and how important it is to have a safe place to land when things feel overwhelming.
It's natural to seek distractions when we're hurting. Sometimes we just need a break from the pain. But over time, those distractions can quietly get in the way of our ability to truly know ourselves and show up authentically in our relationships.
Everyone deserves to feel heard, seen, and connected, even when feelings of worthlessness or abandonment start to creep in. In those quiet, lonely moments, it's okay to admit that you're struggling. You are not alone in this.
Change is hard, and asking for help takes courage. Together, we will create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can be fully yourself, explore your thoughts and feelings, heal from what has hurt you, and grow into who you want to be. Your healing journey starts here, and I am truly honored to be a part of it!
I provide in-person and virtual therapy sessions to individuals (12+). My areas of expertise include Trauma, PTSD, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Self-Esteem, Anger, Life Transitions, and Disordered Eating.

Our Approaches

Internal Family Systems
IFS creates a connectedness between clients inner and outer worlds through accessing the Self. Additionally, IFS helps clients access and heal their protective and wounded inner parts.
Somatic Experiencing
When people experience stress, shock, and trauma, it accumulates in their bodies. SE therapy assists in helping clients notice, release, recover, from these feeling states, encouraging resilience.
Mindfulness Practices
We incorporate mindfulness techniques to help individuals and couples cultivate self-awareness, reduce stress, and enhance emotional resilience.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
DBT helps individuals manage intense emotions and improve relationships. Combining cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness, it encourages acceptance, self-awareness, and emotional resilience while promoting change.
EMDR therapy entails changing how a traumatic memory is stored in the brain.
Humanistic
Humanistic therapy promotes personal growth and self-actualization while focusing on the human experience. This approach values authenticity and enables clients to embrace their true selves.

Trauma Informed
We use a trauma-informed approach that focuses on understanding trauma. This method fosters a safe environment, allowing clients to feel respected and empowered. By recognizing trauma signs, we tailor our techniques to support healing and resilience, building trust for effective therapy.
Gottman Method
The Gottman Method helps couples improve their relationship and emotional connection. It emphasizes understanding partner's perspective, enhancing communication, and building friendship and trust. Couples are assisted in identifying patterns and fostering positive interactions that create a lasting change for a healthier relationship.
Emotionally Focused Therapy
Rooted in attachment theory, EFT seeks to establish a closeness with one's own personal feeling states and others.
